Spread Love

Transforming Darkness Into Color, One Act of Love at a Time

“A little love can bring color to even the darkest places.”

Spread Love is a vibrant, uplifting work of contemporary urban art by Los Angeles artist and muralist Mike Norice, featuring his beloved signature character, Powerful Paul.

Set against the gritty backdrop of a dark Los Angeles-inspired alleyway, Powerful Paul kneels with a paint bucket, pouring an explosion of brilliant colors across the pavement. What begins as a dull, forgotten urban space transforms into a breathtaking display of colorful splatter paint, energy, creativity, and joy.

The artwork delivers a simple yet powerful message:

No matter how dark the world may seem, we all have the ability to spread a little love and make it brighter.

The Power of Art to Transform Our Surroundings

At the heart of Spread Love is the belief that art has the power to change the way we see the world.

Surrounded by weathered buildings, graffiti-covered walls, utility poles, and the familiar textures of inner-city Los Angeles, Powerful Paul introduces something unexpected — an overwhelming burst of color and positivity.

As he pours paint onto the ground, brilliant splashes of red, blue, yellow, green, orange, and white spread across the concrete, creating a striking contrast against the otherwise muted environment.

The vibrant colors symbolize happiness, creativity, hope, unity, and the transformative power of love.

The dark alley represents the challenges, negativity, and difficult circumstances we sometimes encounter in life.

Powerful Paul represents our ability to change those circumstances through kindness, imagination, creativity, and positive action.

Rather than allowing his environment to define him, Paul uses his creativity to redefine the environment around him.

From the Streets of Los Angeles to a Canvas of Possibilities

Inspired by Mike Norice's roots in Watts, Los Angeles, Spread Love reflects the artist's connection to street culture, urban landscapes, and community transformation.

The artwork combines realistic urban scenery with colorful abstract expressionism and playful character illustration.

Powerful Paul's joyful personality stands out against the gritty surroundings, while the explosive paint splatters create movement, energy, and excitement throughout the composition.

Subtle neon-green accents surrounding Paul add a contemporary dimension, reinforcing the feeling that positivity and creativity can radiate far beyond the individual.

The result is a unique fusion of street art, graffiti culture, abstract expressionism, and contemporary Black art.

More Than Art — A Message to Spread Love

Spread Love is more than a colorful piece of wall art. It is a visual reminder that small acts of kindness, creativity, and compassion can make a meaningful difference.
